Last night at the dinner table, this compliment was issued - with qualifier - as Thomas asked to be excused.
"Mom, may I be excused? I do not want to eat any more and I don't care if I don't get dessert. I mean, the dinner was good, thank you for fixing it for us, it was really very good but I definitely don't want seconds and I'm finished. But, thanks for trying."
That's high praise from the pickiest kid at the table.

I've been known to say that my epitaph probably will read, "She tried." But now it seems to be passing to another generation. At least you got the compliments before the backhand. Ha.
What did you "try" for dinner? I think you're a fabulous cook! That is a classic comment!
